INTERNATIONAL - Thomaston, Georgia: Local authorities are investigating the theft of two high-value Ford Mustang vehicles, valued at nearly $200,000, from Southern Ford of Thomaston dealership. The incident occurred overnight on Friday.

The stolen cars include a Ford Mustang GT500 Heritage and a blue Ford Mustang GT500. According to General Manager Chip Richardson, the Heritage model is a rare numbered car, with less than a thousand built globally, and it underwent thorough certification.

Thomaston Police reported that the thieves not only took the targeted vehicles but also the keys to most of the cars in the dealership lot. Chief Mike Richardson speculates that the perpetrators were not seeking a casual joyride, as they seemed to have specific knowledge about the valuable cars. He further suggests that the stolen vehicles are likely destined for a specific location rather than being dismantled.

Police also stated that the security cameras at the dealership were disabled prior to the theft. The incident has left the dealership's management disheartened, especially considering Thomaston's reputation as a small, typically crime-free town.

Investigators are encouraging anyone with information regarding the theft to contact Thomaston Police. A reward of $1,000 is being offered for any details leading to an arrest in this case. Copyright 2022 WANF. All rights reserved.
